Would you like to learn to make cakes for a special occasion? In this project you will investigate, design, produce and evaluate your own concept of a decorated cake for a special occasion of your choice. You will learn how to use and create with sugar paste to decorate your design using various shaping and moulding techniques. Concepts of balance, harmony, colour mixing and the use of contrast and highlight features whilst decorating will be explored. Skills developed could be used for a future home business opportunity!
 

FASHION DRAWING & DESIGN      Code: FD

Do you like designing clothes? This is a project for those “fashionistas” who would like to learn how to draw like a professional fashion designer. You will learn how to use different techniques and media to achieve spectacular results. This project could prepare you for folio preparation in senior levels or be a way to develop your drawing and designing skills. This is purely a designing course and garments will not be made.


MAKING PICTURE FRAMES USING RECYCLED WOOD     Code: PIC

Feeling creative and want to help save the planet at the same time? Using recycled wood - that is wood with a history - and other materials you will produce picture frames from designs you have produced yourself from a series of drawings using different perspectives. A great way to display your favourite photographs or paintings.

You will learn to use a range of tools including powered and various joinery techniques. Size is no problem - within reason it’s your choice, large to tiny and everything in between. The emphasis is on highlighting the beauty of dressed old wood and high quality joints.
 

MAKING A JEWELLERY BOX    Code: JB

Create an individually designed jewellery box! You will be shown how to take a rough sketch to an accurate dimensioned technical drawing and then turn that into a finished jewellery box. This will highlight the beauty of wood in an outer casing enclosing a finely sectioned inner compartment lined with a variety of tools including powered. You will learn various joinery and finishing techniques using several types of materials. There will be a lot of scope regarding size and design for your jewellery box - let you imagination run free.
