Social Justice

At Killester we follow the Gospel values of Jesus as well as the Kildare Education Ministries Social Justice Charter  : Living Peace, Living Justice Principles.

We have several social justice groups including the Justice and Democracy group and the St Vincent De Paul group. We have also begun a number of service aspects in Year 12 school-based RE.

Various groups are involved in raising awareness and funds:

    • Project Compassion through Caritas, Australia. This is a whole school project launched on Ash Wednesday.
    • Senior students service Joey’s Food Van serving the poor in Dandenong through our connection with St Joseph’s Parish.
    • The Poor Persons Mass donates to St Vincent De Paul Springvale
    • Building Bridges is an Interfaith Dialogue project for Year 10 and 11 students
    • Year 12 service “St Kilda Mums” and St Josephs Primary School.
    • The Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project is supported each Brigidine Day and at Christmas
    • The Winter Sleepover in term two for senior students
