🇮🇩 YEAR 9 LOTE | A few weeks ago, our Year 9 🇮🇩 YEAR 9 LOTE | A few weeks ago, our Year 9 Indonesian students embarked on an exciting journey to ACMI. Immersed in their studies of Indonesian myths, legends, and fairy tales, they eagerly delved into ACMI's captivating exhibition titled "Story Moving Image." Within its walls, they discovered the profound ways in which inventors, innovators, and artists have skillfully employed elements such as light and shadow, time and movement, colour and sound throughout history to weave mesmerising narratives. As for how these students will recount their own Indonesian stories this term, only anticipation fills the air. We can't wait to see how the Year 9s will showcase their stories.

"As a Year level we all headed to ACMI for an Indonesian excursion to attend an exhibition about storytelling: “The Story Of The Moving Image”. ACMI didn’t only teach us history but it also let us experience it, and dive into a world of creativity and fun. We all had a lovely time and it was surely an exciting experience."

💛 NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK | Our College co 💛 NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK | Our College community will be doing activities throughout this week to raise awareness and commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

🇮🇹 YEAR 9 LOTE | “A few weeks ago, The yea 🇮🇹 YEAR 9 LOTE | “A few weeks ago, The year 9 Italian Cohort went on an excursion to the National Gallery Victoria (NGV) and Melbourne University. We had an amazing day exploring Italian culture and history through art and design.

We traveled to the NGV by bus and took a tour of the general art exhibitions. We were then guided on a tour of Italian works of art and design from different contexts and times with an Education Officer named Libby.

We viewed various paintings on Italian culture and reviewed the historical time period the painting belonged to. We reflected on how cultural and historical ideas are expressed through Italian art and design and explored various aspects of Italian culture and history.

After lunch, we visited Melbourne University and attended a “Talk & Tour” by Matt Absolom about the relevance of studying a Language/Italian for our future career. We also toured the Old Arts buildings of the University.

Overall, the excursion was informative and engaging. We gained valuable insights into Italian culture and history and learned about the importance of studying Italian for our future careers. We would like to thank our Italian teachers for organizing such a wonderful excursion and giving us the opportunity to explore Italian culture in a fun and exciting way.”

💛 NATIONAL SORRY DAY | Today we reflect on the 💛 NATIONAL SORRY DAY | Today we reflect on the profound grief and trauma experienced by members of the Stolen Generation and their families. We celebrate the strength and resilience of survivors and reaffirm our shared commitment to truth, justice, and healing.

We thank Mr. O'Neill for this prayer, which was shared with staff and students in homeroom this morning:

God of all creation,
We who have come from every land give thanks for Australia;
This earth that feeds us;
The shores that bind us;
The skies that envelop us in freedom.

We stand together, united as one people;
Proud of our ability to work together;
Grateful for our gifts;
Nourished by our diversity and our harmony.
Yet we turn to our First Nations People, and see, too,
what has been taken from them.
We weep for their loss of freedom, of country, of culture, of language, of children - even of their very lives.
We stand in awe at their survival and in debt for their care of land.

We have shadows in our history which, if not spoken of, diminishes us.
We have taken without asking; our nation has taken without asking;
Lives are wounded. We see the pain, feel the sorrow and we say sorry.
Give us courage to face the 'truth'
Compassion to share the burden -
Strength to play our part in the healing -
And hope to walk forward to a place of reconciliation, recognition and justice.

🛍 MARKET WEEK | Last week our two Year 11 Busin 🛍 MARKET WEEK | Last week our two Year 11 Business Management classes ran their Market Week stalls during lunchtime in our Atrium. It was a great success and some of the products sold included hot beverages, K-pop merchandise, confectionery, chocolate strawberries and plush toys. All proceeds will be donated to charity. We thank everyone who helped to make this week a success and also to all those who came along to support the businesses.

✨ Student reflection:

"Last week our Year 11 Business Management classes held a Market Week, selling a wide range of products. As part of our Business Management Unit 1 study, we had to prepare and sell products throughout the week. All the profits made by each group are given to charity. In order to make this market week happen, we had to create and implement a business plan. In groups, we generated ideas and planned what we would sell. The process of coming up with ideas and putting them on paper was challenging, however, together as groups we helped and supported each other to come up with ideas. The Market Week was a fun experience for us all. Although the week was stressful, it was fun and we were able to live the life of an entrepreneur. We were able to raise money and give back to the community. Overall the market week was a fun and challenging week for all the classes. We were able to adapt and work under pressure and also work with our peers in a fun and creative way. Being an entrepreneur is definitely hard work!”
